Step into Spring in New Season Shoes | Fashion & Style

As a self-confessed shoe obsessive, I’ll admit that one of my favourite things about the transition between seasons is an excuse to buy new shoes; be it ‘barely there’ heels or a pair of pointed flats for the office, I love to regularly update my collection with new staple styles. Choosing the best additions for your wardrobe can be tricky though, especially if you’re working with a budget that’s more Zara than (Giuseppe) Zanotti — I know I am.

Just to make it more difficult, SS16 is bringing more variety to the high street than ever, with updated classics in spring-time shades and new styles that scream ‘straight off the catwalk’ — all in pretty palette of luxurious neutrals, classic monochromatic tones and even electric brights. From chunky mid-heel sling-backs to retro suede moccasins and super-strappy, detailed sandals, spring’s selection of footwear boasts choice, and offers up something for even the fussiest footwear fanatic.

If you’re more than a little overwhelmed by the summery selection of shoes, here’s my curated collection of the best new shoes you can buy right now (and there’s a selection in every shade).

If spring/summer’s new styles tell us anything, it’s that straps, laces and intricate tie-up details are here to stay. Adorning the likes of sandals, heels and flats, there’s a strappy shoe for everybody. I personally love the sexy, feminine edge that the subtle details add to your overall look, and I think high street shoes are really starting to compete with their catwalk competition.

I’ve curated this collection of footwear for you in every colour, to prove that there’s a pretty pair of new shoes for you in whichever shade you need. I’m always a fan of black but I’m planning on adding a few additions to my wardrobe, in the form of some red ghillie heels and a pastel-toned flats — a few pairs of neutral-toned gladiator sandals wouldn’t go a miss, either.

What do you think of the shoes I’ve chosen and which shades are your favourite for the transitional spring-to-summer season? Have you found a prettier pair? Let me know in the comments below.

Valentine’s Day 2016 Outfit Inspiration | Fashion & Style

As it’s almost Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share some outfit inspiration based on some of the prettiest pieces to hit the high street this month. With the power to split people into two camps, Valentine’s Day is notorious for being both eagerly awaited and, conversely, dreaded. Whether you’re spending the occasion with a loved one, or you’re off on a night out with the girls, there’s something here for everyone. (And if you just fancy Netflix and chill, that’s OK. Head straight to M&S for the greatest selection of heart-shaped chocolates I’ve ever seen.)

As it’s Valentine’s Day, my edit combines classic black staples with seductive burgundy and wine tones and a hint of feminine neutrals. I’ve noticed that lots of Valentine’s-inspired pieces are adorned with frills, laser-cut detail and straps, not to mention that the ‘wrap’ style is very on trend right now. All of the aforementioned are perfect for adding and flirtatious, feminine edge to your outfit, helping you to feel your best if you’re on a date or out with the girls.

I had to include the gorgeous Ghillie heels from Topshop – from the elongating pointed toe to the slim, strappy detail and gorgeous pink-toned red colour, they’re just the perfect heel for Valentine’s. I’m in love with Ghillie-style shoes, and I think the flats are equally as gorgeous.

I hope you like what I’ve chosen. It’s a small edit but I know everybody liked last year’s post so I thought I’d go for something similar. What are you up to on Valentine’s Day? If you’re going out, what do you think you’ll wear? I’m going out for dinner and I think I’ll wear a slim-fit black crew (it’s chilly, after all), tucked in to luxe joggers with strappy sandals. I look forward to reading your outfit inspo too. Let me know in the comments below!

High Street Hottest: January’s Most Wanted Fashion Arrivals

As I’m browsing through my wardrobe this January, I’m met with one pair too many of black skinny jeans and an overload of thick knits. Whilst the jeans-meet-jumper combination forms the basis of almost all of my outfits, I’m definitely in need of a little ‘new year sartorial spruce up’. Rather than browse through my wardrobe any longer, I’ve taken to my favourite brands’ online destinations and picked out a few new pieces that my wardrobe – and yours – might like. Here’s my selection of the best ‘new in’ pieces the high street has to offer.

Topshop:

Warehouse:

River Island:

Oasis:

New Look:

adore the wrap blouse from Topshop, the DB jacket from Oasis and the River Island playsuit. I’m in the market for a new ‘going out’ outfit, and I think the wrap blouse with high-waisted skinny jeans and some Ghillie heels will become my new evening go-to look. I also love the two trenches from New Look. I’ve been thinking about investing in a new jacket for spring, as my two winter coats feature either a fur-collar or suede lining, and neither will work in the transitional weather.

That’s definitely all of my favourite pieces from all of this month’s ‘new in’ sections, though – what did you think of everything I chose? I can’t wait to see what other new spring arrivals will land this month. I’ve been avoiding Zara for a little while as I’ll end up splurging, but I can guarantee they’ll feature next month. Let me know what you’re lusting over at the moment!

STYLE MUST-HAVE: The Top 5 Jumpers Your AW15 Wardrobe Needs

A winter wardrobe essential, the knitted jumper is the new BFF your capsule wardrobe needs. In a variety of cuts, fabrics and shapes, the knitted jumper is an eternal style staple which doubles as a cosy winter warmer too. (And if there’s one category of clothing that our parents will never deny us wearing, it’s obviously knitwear. *Coats and jackets a close second.)

Whether it’s an edgy, skinny fit polo neck or a larger-than-life oversized sweater, there’s a knit for everyone. Adding an effortless vibe to almost all ensembles, the knitted jumper cannot be overlooked. Don’t let the uncomplicated jumper feel frumpy, either, as a simple white shirt takes this weekend basic to office wear essential, whilst lashings of jewellery dress up a simple style.

As a true champion of the knitted jumper, I’ve put together my edit of the top five winter jumpers on the high street right now. Perfect for AW15, invest now to ensure your wardrobe is cold-weather-ready.

  1. THE SKINNY FIT JUMPER

warehouse-skinny-poloWarehouse have served up the perfect dose with this everyday staple-meets-evening classic. A skinny fit rib with on-trend polo neck and feminine, figure-hugging fit, this jumper will make onlookers burgundy with envy. At £35, this knit is a good piece if you’re looking for an effortless wardrobe addition that will take you from office to after hours in an instant. Team with a waistworthy midi skirt for an elegant look.

2. THE THICK KNIT JUMPER

A real wardrobe must-have, the simple and uncomplicated crew neck, thick knit sweater is universally-flattering and will work with any outfit. Topshop’s Square Stitch Jumper is a steal at £36 and comes in a muted grey with unique square stitch design and slim black hem detail. Add black jeans or a flippy skirt and tights for everyday chic, or pop on a white shirt and tailored, sleeveless jacket for office wear made easy.

3. THE OVERSIZED ROLL NECK JUMPER

new-look-cable-knit-jumperAlready dubbed a high street hero, New Look’s cable knit roll neck jumper has been a hit among fashion bloggers this season. At the affordable price of just £34.99, you get a fair chunk of knitwear for your money with this chic and cosy piece, and it’s available in either dark khaki or muted stone. An all-over cable knit and ribbed hemline add to the overall aesthetic of this warm, winter jumper. Pair with super-skinny black jeans and knee high boots for a casual, country vibe.

4. THE EMBELLISHED JUMPERWarehouse Studded Cable Knit Jumper, £52

Warehouse are making winter wardrobes look effortless this season and this studded cable jumper is no exception. At £52, it’s a little pricier than your average high street style but for that you get the warmth of a super-thick knit with lavish, festive embellishment in a non-garish design. It’ll look perfect with tailored cigarette pants, luxe joggers or skinnies alike – a real sartorial winner.

5. THE STATEMENT JUMPER

What’s fashion without taking risks, right? If you’re after something a little more ‘off pisté’ this winter, why don’t you try this bold bardot knit with feather trim from River Island? At £60, it’s a bit of a splurge but this pretty piece is a real sartorial statement. The classic black hue and pared-back, knitted stitch help add some calm to this otherwise brave style. The feather trim and bardot neckline take a normal sweater to new levels.

As you can tell, I’m a bit of a sucker for a knitwear, and my winter wardrobe is packed with jumpers and sweatshirts and there’s the odd cardigan thrown in to the mix, too. Whilst I covet all of the above styles, there’s plenty more out there to see. My favourite online store for sweaters at the moment is the beautiful Olive Clothing – ranging from around £40-85 for thick knits. It’s the perfect destination for someone who wants something a little bit different to what’s usually on the high street.

What do you think of the styles I’ve chosen? Is there a style you can’t live without, like traditional V-necks or a hybrid, shirt-style sweat? Let me know in the comments below!

FOREST GREEN: Autumn’s New Shade of the Season | AW15 Style

An inviting forest green hue has swept through the colour palette in every high street store’s window display this Autumn, and it’s set to be the shade of the season. As we’re used to browsing through coordinated clusters of black, grey and navy clothing in Autumn, a new addition is definitely welcome. Just as camel burst onto the scene a few years ago – and has made it abundantly clear that it’s here to stay – it’s festive forest green that’ll be tempting you into that extra splurge this season. Colouring it’s way through coats, jackets, purses and skirts, here’s my edit of some of the best pieces of clothing showing off the shade this AW15.

  1. If you want to step out in style, go bold with Topshop’s velvet court shoes. They’re steep at £60, but they make a real statement in an iconic, classic style.
  2. Oasis have brought out their coat of the season with this forest green car coat, £98 – I challenge you to find a coat that offers a more flattering silhouette than this.
  3. Another Oasis find, this jewel-embellished jumper, £35 is a lovely, luxe piece of knitwear that suits all skin tones.
  4. Topshop have upped the ante with this unique faux hur hybrid coat – warm, furry and a real style statement, £79 isn’t such a stretch.
  5. An easy piece to wear, River Island’s layered midi dress, £35 adds AW15’s go-to shade to a simple shape.
  6. Warehouse have updated the iconic cross-body bag with this gorgeous croc effect satchel, £32.
  7. Feminine and directional, this belted jumpsuit, £75 from Atterley, is contemporary, unique and fashion-forward.
  8. If you only want to hint at the trend, a pom pom beanie like this £14 Topshop variety is an easy way to incorporate the colour into your AW15 wardrobe…
  9. …but if you’re after the complete opposite, give this Yumi leather look pencil skirt, £32 a whirl.

I’m totally besotted with this new hue; as a true advocate of all things Autumn and Winter, warm, festive shades are my wardrobe staples – be that black, burgundy or berry. I’ve now got a new shade to shop, so that makes me quite excited. I’ve actually already bought the Oasis car coat, however I opted for the camel shade before I saw this lust-worthy forest green alternative. Expect to see me adding those courts and that satchel to my wardrobe very soon, though.

What do you think of this forest green shade – is it the new contemporary, or too old-fashioned for you? Do you like these pieces, or have you seen something much better? Let me know in the comments below!
