Spring 2015 offers a multitude of makeup looks to suit everybody’s cosmetic palette; from smokey ‘bed head’ eyes to lips that scream drama and a graphic liner look to appease even the most conservative of beauty lovers, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a sample of the SS15 catwalks’ best looks and everything you’ll need to achieve a model-worthy makeup moment.
1. SULTRY EYES and NUDE LIPS
It’s both sexy and glamorous but always effortlessly ‘undone’; the smokey eye and nude lip combo is an eternal favourite for make-up artists and beauty lovers alike. Spring 2015 opts to pare back the classic look with minimal colour outside of the eyes – channel a ‘your lips but better’ matte lipstick and subtle flush of bronzer on the cheeks to recreate this for yourself. Make-up must-haves for this look:
- A chunky kohl eyeliner pencil for the perfect haze to frame your eyes – try the dual-ended Too Faced Bulletproof 24 Hour Eyeliner in Dirt Bag which features a crayon kohl and blending sponge
- A matte lipstick that mirrors the natural colour of your lips is the absolute key to nailing this look – my perfect nude is the Kevyn Aucoin The Matte Lip Colour Lipstick in the shade Enduring
2. BOLD LIPS and FEATHERY LASHES
A bright lip set against a muted base is the MVP in the world of makeup and 2015’s take on the traditional, glamorous look features a slight twist – the classic, simple liner is replaced with tawny eyes and feathery lashes for a relaxed vibe. Whilst the complexion is clean, it isn’t immaculate – just add highlighter and fill in your brows. Make-up must-haves for this look:
- There’s only one absolute essential for this look and it’s a bold lipstick. Head straight over to MAC for an endless array of shades – I recommend MAC Lipstick in All Fired Up for a beautiful but bold choice
- It’s already a favourite in my make-up collection and it’s vital for this look, the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint and Pencil will help you to achieve that defined but not-too-finished brow
- For that undeniably beautiful, light-reflecting look, you can really look no further than the all-time favourite YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Highlighting Pen
3. AZURE BLUE EYESHADOW or PASTEL BROWS
Not one for the faint-hearted, Spring 2015 has recommended a new hue for our cosmetics palettes – turquoise, azure blue, aqua and an almost-lilac pastel have been spotted on the catwalk this season. Another to be paired with a nude lip, let your eyes take centre-stage and brave the transition from winter into summer with this statement look. Opt for a simple gloss on the lips and a light sweep of terracotta blush on your cheeks. Make-up must-haves for this look:
- If you’re after a bright and beautiful blue but don’t want to go too full-on at first, try lining your lids with the Stila Magnificent Metals Eyeliner in Metallic Navy. Brand new and inspired by NYFW, this deep blue shimmering shadow is the most subtle and sophisticated way to hint at this trend
- The Queen of colour, pack on Illamasqua Powder Eyeshadow in Anja for a bright, aqua blue that will brighten your eyes and peek out perfectly from under your lashes
- The brand new Barry M Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette in Summer Love actually features the perfect pastel lilac-blue for this look, so if you’re planning on recreating this pastel brow look, this £6.49 palette is perfect for you
4. GRAPHIC LINER and a MATTE POUT
If you try one new thing with your beauty routine this Spring, make it switching up your eyeliner look. Whilst we all have our staple, go-to look, there’s nothing that’ll help you stand out more than incorporating a graphic liner into your look. As seen at Orla Kiely, a 60s flutter is both feminine and flattering, whilst Jean-Pierre Braganza makes a bold and graphic style look nothing other than sexy and sophisticated. Make-up must-haves for this look:
- A graphic liner is nothing short of precise, so try either the Soap & Glory Supercat Fat Jumbo Carbon Black Eyeliner for a thick, full look or opt for the bestselling Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner for a defined line
- Speaking of Eyeko, the absolute fail-safe product for a 60s flutter is the Eyeko Alexa Chung Eye Do Mascara – it’s literally a one-way street to Alexa’s style with this product
- Let your liner do the talking and keep your brows bare with this look – I’d run a tint though them to hold unruly hairs though, try MAC Cosmetics Brow Set in Clear
